How Trapped Emotions Contribute to Chronic Pain

Let’s get real for a minute.
So many people are walking around every single day carrying pain that isn’t just physical — it’s emotional. They’re stuck in a loop and probably don’t even realize it. Chronic pain, in so many cases, is the body’s way of waving a giant red flag, screaming, “Hey, there’s something you haven’t dealt with yet!”

I’m a big believer (and I know many of you are too) that our emotions don’t just disappear when we suppress them. They go somewhere — and where do they go? Into the body. They settle into our muscles, our joints, our tissues. They create tension, inflammation, disease. It’s like emotional clutter that eventually turns into physical clutter.

Louise Hay, who I absolutely love and respect, was way ahead of her time when she taught that every illness is tied to a thought pattern or emotional state. She mapped it out in her book You Can Heal Your Life — if you haven't read it, seriously, grab a copy.
She connected specific pains and diseases to specific emotional roots. For example:

  • Lower back pain? Fear of money or lack of financial support.

  • Neck pain? Inflexibility and stubbornness.

  • Knee issues? Pride and ego not wanting to "bend."

  • Shoulder pain? Carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders — literally and emotionally.

Makes you think, right?
How many of us are carrying things that were never meant for us to carry?

In my work and my own healing journey, I’ve seen this again and again: trapped emotions cause blockages in our energetic field first — then they eventually show up in the physical body. It’s all connected: body, mind, spirit. If one area is out of balance, the others feel it too.

When we don’t deal with grief, anger, fear, resentment — they stew under the surface. They grow roots. They get comfortable hanging out inside of us until our body is forced to say, “Enough.”

The good news?
We can absolutely release these trapped emotions. Energy work, QHHT, Reiki, emotional release therapy — there are so many tools available now to help us process, forgive, let go, and truly heal. But it all starts with awareness.
You can’t heal what you’re not willing to look at.

So if you’re dealing with chronic pain, I encourage you to get curious.
Ask yourself:

  • What emotions have I been pushing away?

  • Where am I holding onto old stories, fear, or guilt?

  • What in my life needs forgiveness — maybe even self-forgiveness?

Your body is always talking to you. Maybe it’s time we start listening a little closer. 💛

A few affirmations to help you start shifting stuck energy:

  • "I am safe to feel and release my emotions."

  • "I forgive myself and others easily and set myself free."

  • "It is safe for me to move forward. I am supported by life."

  • "My body is my friend, and I listen with love and respect."

  • "I release all fear and trust the process of life."

  • "Healing is happening within me right now. I am open to receive it."

You can repeat these when you're feeling stuck, or honestly, just throughout the day. Write them on sticky notes, set them as reminders on your phone — whatever feels good to you.
The more you affirm healing, the more your body starts to believe it. And belief? That's powerful medicine.
